The Auburn Housing Working Group (AHWG) was established by the Accessible Diversity Services Initiative Limited (ADSI) in March 2010. The AHWG is an affiliation of a number of organisations working collaboratively to assist each other addressing the needs of people who experience homelessness, housing stress and tenancy issues in Auburn and surrounding areas.
Stakeholders include the specialist homeless direct service providers, not-for-profit community organisations, community housing providers and government agencies. AHWG provides a forum where agencies can share resources and work collectively to develop responses that would better support their clients and the local community. Members have opportunities to participate in the annual survey which helps the working group decide the main working areas.
Main Working Areas:
- To identify local client profiles and develop a coordinated local response to the lack of affordable and appropriate housing in the Auburn and surrounding local government areas
- To resource members with information that would enhance the effectiveness of service delivery by inviting guest speakers from housing sector to present at the meetings
- To raise awareness and the profile of homelessness in the broader community
- To advocate and make representation at Local and State levels for resources and support to address housing related issue in Auburn
